Paranoid Productions, led by former Rainbow Six Patriots director Richard Rouse III has revealed Church in the Darkness.
Church in the Darkness is top-down action-infiltration game that takes place in the late 1970s, following the story of a South American Cult who have taken to the jungle to avoid US persecution, and have created a utopia where they are no longer judged for their actions.
The game stars Ellen McLain (best known as GLaDOS in Portal) and John Patrick Lowrie (the Sniper from Team Fortress 2) as Rebecca and Isaac Walker, the the husband-and-wife cult leaders whose roles may change with each new playthrough.
As the player you will unravel the story through the town PA system, where the preachers share their unsavory beliefs. You will also find documents and letters scattered around the camp which will help you in your quest to uncover the true nature of Freedom Town.
Here’s more from the game’s description:
Every playthrough of The Church in the Darkness offers a unique version of Freedom Town with different character personalities and a shifting narrative told through investigation, observation, and action. How dangerous are the Walkers? Who are your allies and enemies? How far will you go to uncover the truth and save these people?
Church in the Darkness is in development for PC/Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and is due for release in early 2017.
